Nice to meet everyone, and thanks to Noble for letting us wonder about in the pit. I'm monitoring from home too

Car 8 has dropped a piston (they think)

Also that Mosler is really beginning to make its mark lapping 4 secs faster than the rest of the field. Wonder if they are on full slicks or if its just indicative of the cars performance.

Yep -shame about the weather but it didn't spoil a terrific day. Shame the car didn't make it throught the evening but hopefully Lee can at least take a little comfort from the support he got from his 'customers' (aka extended family)- the turn out was brilliant. Good to meet fellow PHers as always.

great day...unfortunately my windscreen wipers through a wobbly on the way home...lost one, retrieved it and put it on with temporary repair (retaining pin and sleeve are broken), and then had to drive home through the most torrential downpours merely flicking the wiper when I could only see so little it was becoming dangerous......err which was quite often....practically "sailed" the car past Dartford...the motorway looked at bit like New Orleans.

Got home safely thank goodness

But apart from that,as I say...a great day

Just got up to have a listen and look

Anyone know what happened to the Noble? What a shame its not running now.

Bloddy good effort though and excellent to see it in the pits in all its stunning glory!!

(and to see the "new" car! Where is my wallet?

Have spoken to Lee. Engine trouble. Lee doesn't know what's actually wrong with the engine. Shame that, as it was running really well. Seemed to be performing well, and Lee was very pleased with how the race was going. They could have gone quicker, but were trying to conserve the car for the 24hrs and the race would have come back to them a bit, too.

Overall a good showing.

What a bummer. Still, dam impressive showing, the car had been running for 4.5hrs when I left and was still "popping in" 2:22's/2:23's with 2:24/2:25 the norm. When you consider that at that point there were only the Porsche's and the Mosler that were quicker it was a dam impressive site to be sitting in the garage watching the Noble every two or so laps take another position.

Before the last pitstop I saw (which were executed with a great team effort) the Noble had managed to claw back from 45+ after the switch problem knocked them down the field to position 19. There was a great sense of achievement at having got back onto the front page of the three timing screens.

Rotten luck, but who knows, in a few years we could all be watching this at LeMans.....

We were in the garage when they decided that the only way to sort the engine problem was to change the engine. They started doing that and estimated it would take 3 hours. We went back at about 2am and virtually everybody had gone. However after a bit of sluthing about it seems that after checking the data it was unclear what had gone wrong but looked mechanical. Putting an identical engine back in was unlikly tpo do anything other than last another 6 hours and blow another 20 grand so they decided to call it a day and look at leaning from whatever has happened.
I think we have to congratulate them on getting through 6 hours. This is a car that is doing all of its development in public.

And the engine itself had done 22½ hours by the time it packed up according to Lee. If he'd started with a new engine, might well have finished.
