I think you could be hitting upon the right track here L.A.
A lot of the new purchases from TVR come from people who have previously owned TVRs and seeing that the majority of us know the issues revolving around the S6, a lot of people are unsure about putting their faith and hard earned dosh into a brand new car sporting this engine - as this is all you can buy right now.

We all know the RV8 is long gone but the AJP is a cracker and an 'in house' powerplant.

It's a tried and tested unit that deserves another reincarnation.

The next facelift would be suuperb to introduce such an engine, it would restore faith in the die hard and reignite some of that old TVR alure we have all experienced.

Especially as we haven't seen much of the old dramatical TVR stand alone 'neck on the block' changes since NS came on board.

Based on NS throwing money out the window at other companies recently, and layed off a few of the top guys at the factory, I'd say that'll be a cloud 9 dream at this time.

Although, we havent had a 'NS' model yet... maybe he's doodling in his spare time...

whatever the case may be, a V8 is a loooong shot, unless they buy in the new Melling V8 engine...

I only heard snippets, and stand to be corrected but...

IIRC it would be easier to redesign the AJP then to make it emissions effective. The AJP isnt coming back (hope that isnt true!)

TVR themselves said that (it could have been a standard reply to the question) "if a new V8 or plans to release a V8 were in development, I certainly dont know about it"

And after 7 years (I think) of time and money invested in the Speed 6, the S6 is nearly sorted. I really cant see them abandoning it. Unless NS sees the light of day. As a businessman, if it were my company and money, Id finish what Id started with the spd 6 which is a more modern and efficient engine than the AJP.

Its AJP {cerberas for me, till I can one day afford a real supercar. Then it'll likely be another cerbera and then spend my money on flying persuits instead if im lucky and things go well) Even if the spd6 was the most reliable engine in the world, I still wouldnt want one. Im a V8 man myself. I drove a saggy and for me personally (just my opinion) it was about half as exciting and aurally rewarding as the cerb. I got out, and thought nice. Very nice. I dont want one though.

In summary, I do hope a V8 does come out one day. I just cant see myself buying anything but a V8. The marcos is great, but its just not a TVR. And Id like something to aspire to.

if you cant make sense of or disagree with any of the aforementioned statments, write them off as drivel, its hard to talk sense this early in the morning

Fot every man who wants a V8 there is one that doesn't. One of the reasons I bought a TVR is the S6.

Well they do have their own V8 y'know. Appears to have a lower tendency to blow up too. Still probably costs a lot more than buying in a Ford V8 from the US.

Dunno about the 'new v8' engine, but would have thought that demonstrating the virtues of the existing engine on the race track would have been helpful to TVR punters. So N.S. stopped TVR racing, can't make head or tail out of that one other than saving a few shillings.

Is it possible to buy a TVR from the factory, without an engine?

I guess the real problem with using the LS7 is that they'd then have to justify a probable £40k or close to 200% markup vs a Corvette using the exact same engine.

Apparently they've employed 2000 extra workers in the US to build Vettes specifically to cover the anticipated extra demand in Europe.

Has to be worth a look surely?

The LS7 is spankingly good as it is but it can be bettered. TVR could do their own version of the engine, ie darton or ls2 block, similar specced internals, ls7 heads and a fancy intake manifold.

Boosted.

Theres nothing wrong with the Speed 6, its gotten better and will continue to get better, they know the problems and are hopefully sortin them out!

But, what we need now is a road-going Speed 12 engine! So TVR bring that one back and make it a little more road friendly and sell it in the 60-70k bracket just undercutting the other new budget supers from the big boys, and you'll have yourself a killer market!

Put it into a wide-bodied Tuscan MK1 style shell with a more aggressive mouth and add some baby seats in the rear. Dont bother with all the fancy electronics, just bring back the old-school speedometer and tachometer and a oil temp and pressure guage with a water temp guage. Throw in a solid T56 and around 550hp. Not a bad idea huh?

The way I see it...

we've got the Speed 6
we've got the Speed 8
we've got the Speed 12

why not just bring the damn engines back...???

but, like I said earlier, NS lost the plot... god knows what to expect from TVR these days... a new car with a more powerful engine is definitely a must for TVR to break wind...

I prefer the Ford V8 to the Vauxhall one.
550bhp $14000 seeing as TVR quoted me £13,000($24000)
for a new speed six it would seem like a bargain.

I reckon they'd do fine if they just sorted out the perceived issues with the Speed 6. I think the Saggy would be a mighty popular car if you took away the worry of frequent expensive engine rebuilds.

What I wonder about is the next step in more bhp, as what happened to supercharging the Sp6?

AJP8 with 32v and increased capacity would be seriously Shame that with things as they are, to achieve this it wouldn't be done by TVR.

But the Saggy is no Cerbie!

I know that NS has got designers doodling away as we speak with various ideas as to how the TVR bloodline should be continued, including how the Cerbera could be replaced. Whether NS pays any attention to them is another thing though....

If TVR want a V8 engine, then they should do as Morgan do and obtain the BMW V8. Smooth, fabulous sounding, clean, reliable power.

Perhaps BMW might let TVR have the engine from the 750i. 367 bhp in standard tune should be just the ticket.

Maybe Ford would do a deal on the Jaguar/Land Rover/Aston V8. Doesn't it make about 380bhp in the A-M V8 Vantage that has just been launched? The Jaguar version with supercharger is up to 400bhp.
