Very strange I am using fairly large local accountants due them carrying out my parents tax affairs for number years
Sadly my Mother passed away last year
They are dealing with My Mother's estate the period in question it the start of the tax year until her death on the 9th July

They have said the below

"Our software hasn’t updated yet to be able to file online for 23/24"

so it may cause a delay to the file it

How can this be ?

If you talking about a self assessment for tax year 23-24, that can’t be done until the year has finished on 5 April.

Software tends to be updated not long before that.

Paper tax returns can still be filed.
It is possible to file a tax return covering from 6 April to the date of death.
I had to do this for a client not too long ago.
These types of returns are outside “Self Assessment” as there is no requirement to calculate the actual tax arising.

Thanks Eric
I will go back to them they have been very slow to ask for some missing info which has been frustrating and I thought they would of gone to the key parties to get the info
The Solicitors are dealing with Tax affairs after her death but the accountants are dealing with period before
The IHT was paid last year and Proabate was granted just under a month ago( nearly 2 months early than planned I was told 20 weeks and it was granted 13/14 weeks )

Pistonheads is brilliant for assistance
