no action on untaxed car?
Discussion
got a nuisance parker in this street , car dumped on the footpath instead of his own drive
well anyway , call be a busy body but i spotted its untaxed from the start of march , ive reported on the DVLA site a few times , council site , still sits there , vs you hear storys of someone moving a car into the road for 10 mins when moving them about and they get fined

Given that we're still in March I think you may well be overestimating how quickly the council react to these kinds of things. The village my parents live in is near a car auction and they have a lot of people dumping untaxed cars in the village to come back later and collect them. Locals report them but it normally takes 5/6 weeks for the council to come out by which time the reported car is long gone.
Its going to take a while, they can't just come and remove a car without warning the keeper first. So the DVLA find it is untaxed give it 2 weeks before sending a letter, they are then going to have to wait for it to be delivered, then responded to. This could take 3 weeks if the keeper is on holiday, then they will have to organise removing the car. I doubt any of this will happen in less than 2 months.

id assumed a light went off when not taxed /not sorn and they come and clamp it?
I think they concentrate on how many cars are showing as untaxed in a certain area. If there is only one car untaxed in AB12 3XX, but 20 cars showing as untaxed in AB12 3ZZ , then they will blitz the higher number with clamps and may never get around to your area. Some police forces can recover untaxed vehicles on the road.
However, they can only be removed if the tax is more than a two months and a day out. Or SORNd.
Recovery agent was saying the DVLA can't just remove but have to leave a notice on for seven days and then they can recover. I don't know the length of time that they have to wait.
But the same month is very unlikely.

Well, from experience…
Mrs Magnum forgot to renew hers last summer. It was parked on the long stay at BHX at the time. She got back to the Uk, drove home, and carried on driving for a few more weeks without any issues. DVLA sent a stroppy letter saying, “Tax it or SORN it, or you’re in trouble.” She taxed it, could only pay from “now”, despite trying to back-date to when the previous year expired. Paid up, no fines, no fees, no problems.
This was a genuine mistake caused by being out of the country for a few weeks, but I’ll bet there’s lots of people out there running untaxed as they know they can get away with it.

It’ll get seen to eventually. One from our street got clamped and lifted all in one week after about a year sitting. well anyway , call be a busy body but i spotted its untaxed from the start of march , ive reported on the DVLA site a few times , council site , still sits there , vs you hear storys of someone moving a car into the road for 10 mins when moving them about and they get fined
