Transferred insurance to our new vehicle yesterday

Unfortunately the reg was misheard on the phone so the call handler entered AS24 AAA instead of AZ24 AAA

They have ‘corrected’ it and issued a letter confirming cover but bit concerned that AskMID is still showing AS24 as insured and AZ24 as not!

Call handler reckoned it could take a week but I don’t believe them. How long should these things take to update? Is it the same db as the police use?

A week you are lucky.

Our insurance put me down as having an accident instead of my wife

They have accepted it was their mistake, confirmed in writing they have corrected it.

Internal systems - allow "up to working days" to correct

CUE database (underwriters database) - allow up to 10 weeks !!!

If you have a letter/email from them what are you worried about? Just print it off and stick in it the glove box if you’re worried about getting stopped.

It takes seconds to update and show up on askmid.. What they mean is they might not be arsed to do it for a week. Fortunately from your point of view it’s no problem if you have or can get a certificate to present should it be needed.

I drove for nearly 2 years in this scenario until I was stopped. Reported for no insurance and went to court with the number plate in my hand, which demonstrated that I had transposed a 0 for a O and the magistrate threw the case out.

Bloody hell what a waste of public money!!
Surely this could have been resolved at the roadside? I always keep copies of insurance paperwork on Google drive so I can present to plod if necessary.

For reasons I will never understand, a keyboard has a different character for 0 and O. A number plate doesn't. O & 0 are identical.
