Two churches on a rock. Torcal National Park, Granada Province, Spain.

View from the city of Ronda, Spain.

They could be better, I know, as I didn't use a tripod. Anyway, please critique (bearing in mind these are compressed to hell as they are both 3 X 8.2 MP images joined together, so very wide) :D

I think those are very impressive, especially if you didnt use a tripod! I guess the point with these photos is that it seems like one photo not 3 stuck together and you certainly cant see the joines in yours.

Do you have to do much to them in photoshop or make much changes on the camera for each photo to get the exposure the same? (if that makes sense)

Cheers

Stuart

I nearly allways shoot in Manual mode anyway, so the exposure should be the same for all 3 shots. However, I think I lapsed in my usual routine in the Ronda shot, as the right hand 1/3 looks more saturated than the rest. No tripod, just some handy iron railings

And I took my first panorama in 1982 and stuck all the prints together

My Q regards the stitching - do you do this manually or let PS etc do it for you? And what focal length? Wide lets you get more in, long makes it easier to join as there's less distortion.

I find having a tree helps the joining!

Seemed pretty manual to me...Scott Kelby book, page 260.

Torcal = 50mm
Ronda = 28mm

Hadn't thought of that, but will remember for future use.

I had a dabble with this recently with some pics I took of the Alps, opinions most welcome - This has been cut down to 1000px wide, original is over 6000... I just used the auto feature in PS, but then fiddled a bit with filters etc.

Cheers, Tony

Double

Nice work folks (something I haven't tried yet, and cheaper than the wide angle lens I want.....!)

Yeah - but that's got direct sun so you've got a wider dynamic range than in the shade anyway.....

You're right...I just checked and all 3 were taken in Manual mode, 1/30th @ f22.

I've done it a couple of times with my DSLR. The best way I've found to get a steady picture is to go totally manual and use the focus point cross hair to line up with the horizon or another horizontal line.

But quality photos chaps!
