Obviously hope the water tanker driver is ok!

Will emirates be able to get that repaired to be able to ferry it back to base?

Everything is repairable, it’s just a matter of cost vs value of the aircraft.

Bit of speed tape and cross the fingers. hehe Single flight clearance has been granted to worse damage than that.

It appears to be one of their oldest A380’s. Will be interesting to see if they repair it or turn it into a parts bin.

Exactly, my first thought too. I guess the oligarchs have too much invested in UAE.

The UAE are endeavouring to stay "neutral" - https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/3/3/uae-stance... . International politics is complicated sadly, especially when dealing with psychopaths.

All that matters is money and power to these despot states.

Lots of Russian (and other) money gets laundered through the UAE, they know which side their bread is buttered. We probably shouldn’t throw stones though, London is no stranger to dodgy money and unsavoury characters.

It's just realpolitik in action and nothing to be surprised about really.

Sadly yep: we could do with cleaning the House of Lords for starters... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-60765665 - doesn't excuse the ME interests, but makes it more difficult to take the higher moral ground.

Ferried back to Dubai yesterday. Got up to 40,000ft so a bit of speedtape, double bond and a new panel might sort it out.
