Advanced driving courses
Discussion
As a condition of my current work I had to do one of these. With the usual grumbling 'tsssk waste of my time after 17 years driving etc' off I went.
In the event I was amazed at how much I learnt, not the basic stuff, just little tips and tricks, things like increasing the distance to the vanishing point on a single track road, pulling out to take a peek when considering overtaking without fully commiting to the manouvere, leaving an escape zone between you and the car in front at traffic lights etc.
At the end of it I got a driver risk assesment, mine was fine :).
Should these courses be mandatory for all motorists, and in that case could insurance premiums be linked to the score on your risk assesment, surely this would make a far more logical way of determining your premium than looking at type or car, postcode and age? And to boot I am sure that it would be far more effective at preventing accidents than putting scameras all over the place.

Glad you enjoyed your course and found it valuable! I agree that more training is better than scameras too...
