Corvette Z06 Sale / Katrina Donation
Discussion
Hey All,
I've had my silver 2002 Z06 up for sale in the pistonheads classifieds and on exchange and mart for a couple of months now. Had a few nibbles but in truth I don't think I'll get my asking price (or even my lowest haggle down to price) this year, what with the summer drawing to a close.
I've been trying to decide what to do, whether to keep her for another year, mothball her for a couple etc (we just don't have the time to use her right now).
I've also been trying to figure out how I can best donate funds in the wake of the Katrina disaster.
My lowest haggle to price was going to be £28.5. Just throwing this out for anyone's interest, I will sell her to someone on this list for £28k, £500 of which I will donate to the American Red Cross. My company will then double that donation to £1000.
Any takers?

Good luck with it, Ken. I've been offering mine for far less than that and still not sure there are enough Z06 buyers out there. I've also had a few nibbles (three to be precise) but nothing I'm relying on as it's my view that if you want a Z06, there are no ifs, buts or maybes and no hidden surprises to put you off in servicing, insurance or running costs. It's a no-brainer for a performance car freak.
Incredible seeing as how they claim the NSX is the sensible supercar and yet the 405bhp Z06 obliterates it in every department.
It can only be LHD or prejudice when you see people buying TVR's and putting aside £5k just in case it goes wrong. Better to buy a Z06 and put aside a fiver. LOL.

I drove mine last night for the first time in ages and maybe I should keep it.
Vettes used to enjoy a midlife lull in depreciation but as soon as the next model is launched, they go down, it's the way of the world, even if the replacement is a pig ugly banglesque abomination, people want "the latest thing".
I was going to part with mine for 26.5k but now I'm not so convinced.

Since Claremont are knocking a 2002 Z06 out for £28K, then I would be looking at a private sale price around 15% below that, i.e. around £23-£24K... Not that Claremont is a yardstick, of course, but if you can get one off Tom with a years warranty etc. etc. for £28K...
Still can't afford one though
even at £24K!

even at £24K!Last one I saw he had for that price it was a red one (quite a few of those knocking around and precious few silver ones). He had similar one for about 30k. I don't know what his pricing policy is, but it seems to be pretty much that he sells for what he can realistically get.
I do think that the main problem with selling a Z06 isn't necessarily setting the right price, it's finding the right buyer. If you asked any kid in the US what one was they'd know. Over here you have to pretty much come across them by accident or already be into Corvettes.
Basically, I think you could price a Z06 at £35k or at £25k and you'd probably get the same amount of interest.
