start button stays red on TUS 2 S
Discussion
Hi Steve
I left it a while to see what, if any response your post would get. It looks like a prob that none of us MK2 owners have suffered. Are you sure when your engine misfired, the car didnt momentarily stall which is one of my previous probs?
Alternatively when you lock the car up there is an enormous ammount of flashing lights and yes the red start button light does seem to stay on for a lomg time.
Mine is in for service next week so I will ask my dealer.
In the mean time if you get an answer please post.

Thankyou Lady Topaz. For a minute I thought I was Billy no mates!!! And yes my engine is stalling and sounding fairly ill. What was your previous problem and how did you cure it?
The red light inside the start button stays on all the time when the car is locked and armed, unlocked, running, ignition on or off. Not sure if the two could be connected or just a coincidence.
Don't know whether a blast up the road will clear the mis-fire or make it worse.
I have been reading some previous post and my engine does idle low 600 - 700 rpm. This seems to be an issue. My car is booked in next Monday to be looked at, just trying to get some ideas on Tuscan problems. Trying to avoid the piggy-back by the recovery lorry.
p.s Was that you in July sprint.

Hi Steve,
If the lights are on all the time then you probably do need this sorted. I would, however, be surprised if this was linked to your rev/stalling issue.
When this happened to mine it was shown to be the 1st two cylinders not firing correctly in sequence. This was blamed on a number of reasons throttle spring, ecu, etc.
My dealer adjusted it and set the revs nearer 1000rpm on tickover
Also advice was given to ensure the aircon wasn't engaged upon start up as this will effect tickover.
Touch wood mine has behaved impeccably for the last two months but it did take a while to sort.
Yep that was moi in July's Sprint.
Ohh and dont take lack of response personally, there are a load of really great people on here who will assist whenever they can. Being a woman I just tend to prattle on more than most.
Keep us informed!

Hi Di
Am I glad I found you guys & girls don't feel quite so alone now. Looks like I have been missing out on loads of stuff!!! Whats this about the pods, havn't had my invite from the factory yet, don't like the phrase retro fit.
Never started the car with the air-con on because of the drag on the engine. I will keep you informed with what happens Monday onwards. Thanks for all you have done so far. TTFN Steve
