MGs and fog lights

First time I thought I was seeing things but I've now seen about 4 MG suv things that every time they turn or indicate both front fog lights come on. Is this a thing now?

Of course cornering fogs have been about for years, at least they are setup to only bring on one light and at low speed.
To bring on both at any speed seems rather silly.
