rough running

Stupid question here.

My chim had a 'new' coill fitted when i brought it. Not a bosch on...in fact it does not have a make on it and it looks a bit....cheap!!!

Could this have anything to do with the car running a bit rough at low revs especially when cold...i am going to get a decent coil ordered so it will be changed...i am just wondering how far up the list of priorities this should be...any advice on what coil to get would be much appreciated

If it's ok at higher revs (when it's cold) and especially when the engine's under load (hot or cold), the coil is probably working ok.

When replacing the coil, most go for the Bosch unit, part number PRC6574 (a Lucas part number, I think).

Yep, what he said. Bosch part number 0 221 122 392 (or it was on the box mine came in).
Hunt around on the internet - you can get them fairly cheap (I paid just over £40 inc delivery)

(The original one on mine was black with no markings on it at all. Was working OK, but the bosch one made a noticable difference, mainly at high revs)

I am suffering poor end running and have replaced coil, leads, heat shields, plugs.

The stepper motor shines and still she runs really badly at pre 2000 revs.

Booking car for rolling road test to try and isolate it. I suspect it is one of the sensors but could replace the entire engine before i fix it.

Sorry haven't helped much but would like to know how you get on. I will let you know where I get to.
