Hello all

We would just like to welcome the Audi R8 back into the auction. For full transparency, when the owners looked at the advert they fell back in love with the car, hence it being withdrawn. I can now confirm that this IRON MAN spec Audi R8 is fully ready to find its next new home.

Good luck with you bids, as we feel this is going to do well...!

Best Wishes
Dave

Hello, I notice several mentions of the shock absorbers leaking in the paperwork. Are they still leaking or have you had this fixed?

I also see the clutch wear is advised on one of the more recent invoices. Has the clutch been replaced?

Thanks

Hi there,
The clutch was replaced by AMD as the final thing the previous owner did before selling … approx early 2022.

The front shocks were replaced a couple of years prior to that, but the rears are now showing some misting so would need to be replaced or refurbed at some point.

Thanks for the quick response. I notice on your profile it says ‘ 2008 Audi R8 V8 Manual (part owned with a group of mates)’ - can I confirm the V5 is in your name?

Thanks

It’s not … one of the other chaps put it in his name as we used his fleet insurance (he has a lot of nice cars)!.

But … all explained with Pistonheads and his approval to sell on record also. V5 just proof of registration not ownership, etc. when the car is handed over none of that will be an issue - the V5 is with the car.

I understand that, but anyone wishing to finance the car will have an issue. The V5 must be in the name of the person the money is paid to from the finance company in the case of financing a privately bought car (there are some ways around it, but not straightforward, and many finance companies won’t want to know).

Will this be possible to arrange payment to the person whose name the car is in?

Ah ok, hadn’t appreciated that. And yes sure .. we can just arrange payment to the V5 owner rather than me, wouldn’t be an issue.

Hi,
I hope you don't mind but i have a number of questions , these being as follows:

Has the car ever been tracked during your ownership by you or shared with your group of mates?
What do you know about the extremely low mileage in the cars first few years?
The car is due a new MOT next month, is this something you will be undertaken as part of the sale?

Final question , are there any issues apart from those already highlighted?

Many thanks in advance for your prompt reply.

Kind regards.

Hi there- sure, answers as follows:

- on being tracked. emphatically no in our spell of ownership. I've had the car the most, and - I just wouldn't take a 16 year old 1.5 h ton car on track (got a racing car for that as profile hopefully shows!). The last owner also said he never took on track, and after meeting him a couple of times and spending an hour so with him i believed him. He just wanted a really nice car, track driving wasn't his thing.

- on early miles, I'm afraid I don't know/can't remember if i did discuss with the previous owner. You can see he had it for 9 years or so (the car starts getting more used after 2013); i just focused on his ownership of the car when i/we bought it. Looks like an MOT was missed in 2014 which probably explains why the mileage jumps...

- on the MOT, i wasn't planned to - and because I am not sure it would pass because of the inner edges of the rear tyres (mentioned in the advert). I didn't fancy either a failure on record or that cost of new rears if the car was being sold anyway... also if it were my car i would put on new Pirellis, but new owner might want a different brand...

No other issues - Pistonheads have done a good job here of writing eveything up. The rear shocks show some misting, the rear tyres aren't great, the aftermarket reversing sensor is a bit chirpy.... it's a 16 year old car that has been used, so the bodywork reflects that in places, but think the photos capture that well.

Good luck if you do bid!

Thanks again for the response, and apologies for the further questions.

I notice the service book refers to the S Tronic gearbox. Thisq gearbox didn’t exist in 2008, so is the service book a replacement?

Finally does the car interior or suspension rattle or creak at all when driving? I noticed they said they’d removed parts of the interior at one point, and nothing winds me up more than a rattle you can’t locate!

Thanks

Well now i have car-checking envy, as I had not spotted that, and i'm usually pretty thorough!

The car was definitely registered March 2008, so can only assume it's a replacement if that's correct. I should also say one of the other owners took the car in for last service whereas the paperwork lives with me - so it's missing its 2nd service stamp from RE Performance from 2023, but Ricky there will stamp it again if someone takes the book there- plus of course the invoice for that service is included.

And no - no excessive rattles or creaks. I also share that trait of being wound up by these things as the number of pieces of foam applied to the doorcard of my V90 will testify!
