Hi all

I managed to lock myself out of my Hotmail / Microsoft account with too many wrong passwords. I went through the recovery process but keeps failing as I never used to Microsoft account for emails etc, I only ever used it for things like documents etc as I don't have word / excel on my pc.

It says I need to give contacts, details of emails etc etc which I just don't have. I get the response of "Unfortunately, our automated system has determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership.".

Not too worried about the email side of things, but got alot of info / docs stored on ONEDRIVE I don't want to loose.

In the recovery section where it asked for phone number it no longer sends code to my phone. I can get the revovery code to another email, but that's not enough for the account to be recovered, it says I have to go through the other process of contacts / emails etc which I have no way of doing.

Is there any way round this or is this now 'lost' for good?

As always, any help / advice much appreciated.

Many thanks
OSF

My Partner had this issue and She went through all the hoops trying to get back in, and so I had a go and just manually typed Hotmail.Co.UK in and manually entered her password and got back in, She was hitting a saved bookmark and I dont know if something in the URL had changed but her link would not work whilst actually typing it in did if you see what I mean..

Also bear in mind different keyboard mappings and special characters in passwords (", @, etc...).

I had this with two Microsoft accounts, passwords security questions, first pets name etc . They then asked for details of the contents of last emails I had sent!!! I gave up .
