Did anyone catch the moment when he almost lost it climbing to Eau Rouge (more to the end of the race IIRC). It was in the same spot that Fisichella lost control and crashed.

He was being chased by another car and for some moments the car was at a +45 degree angle... in Eau Rouge!! He corrected it so fast that he didn't even lose any time to the guy behind.

He may not have the most competitive spirit in F1 but that guys talent is supernatural.

i didn't see this but i heard him mention it... I wish I had seen it. I think he has some of the best car control skills in F1.

Anyone else notice the pre-race views on 2006?

JV "I signed a two year contract last year, the team has been sold and not gone bust, so I will be driving next year."

Mario Theissen "We are looking at the situation"

Really enjoyed the race and was impressed the Villeneuve.

Did anyone see what happend to Montoya at the end of the race? Stupid TV had no pictures of the incident only Monyota and Pitzonia already sliding off the road

Was it investigated?

I didn't get to hear the post race discussion or see if they found any footage of what happend.

I thought Button did well and also felt sorry for the Schumey's (especially Ralf if it was his team who decided Slicks were the way to go)!

Yeah Pizzonia was blamed and fined. Cant remember how much. Never did see footage of it though.

Some years ago I remember a qualifying lap in Austria in a BAR where he was sliding all over the place, jumping kerbs, whatever...

Made all other pilots there look like bus drivers and brought me some memories of Senna at Monaco.

I think villeneuve gets a bad time from the press because he generally qualifies with loads of fuel, with an eye on doing well in the race. Unfortunately in the race his car seem to go wrong or he sometimes makes a mistake. THis then makes his race look as bad as well as his qualifying so he never gets a "result". I think he's a very good driver and will be interested to see him driving for BMW next year (He would hardly say he was if he wasn't pretty certain he'd have the drive).

of course the other reason he seems to get a bit of bad press is like montoya seems to be this year he has a magic magnet that attracts accidents. so if there is going to be one, he is drawn into it.

Fine of £4,500 to Pizzonia (chicken feed - wonder if Flav will send him a cheque & say thanks). Montoya found to be totally blameless.
