The settings on the Temporary Traffic Lights have failed
Discussion
Our lane is stuck on red ...the queue is getting longer and people are sounding their horn trying to get the lady in the first car to go....(its a one way street).Halifax has a hobby of diging up streets for no reason.
The first Lady finally moves to the side payment.
There is no apparent evidence of any cameras that are going to record anybody jumping the red.
The queue has been there 10 mins and it begins to move.
Would you risk a NIP jumping a Red Light...would there be any defence??

I remember reading somewhere that temporary traffic lights aren’t backed up with a Traffic Regulation Order so if you went through a red light, you couldn’t be done for a red light offence.
Could be a load of codswollop though.
Close. Temporary lights that aren't there with a TRO would have difficulty forming a prosecution. There's specific offence codes for violating local TROs.Could be a load of codswollop though.

Is there someone I shoud report it too??
Usually if you phone the traffic management company who own the traffic lights, they’ll have someone out to fix them pretty quickly (minutes rather than hours).Sebring440 said:

Certainly sounds like it.My dad told me whilst teaching me to drive in 1984, that you could continue to travel on red if you were at the end of the queue, because there was no danger, of having a head on collision. I've always taken that with a pinch of salt.
I have on occasion looked far into the distance and seen no cars to worry about and driven through on red. And as I've passed the light facing in the opposite direction, seen it to be red.
And remember green means proceeed with caution. Not go with your eyes closed.

It wasnt dangerous to me physically ....but as my License is my livelihood. I am fiercely protective of it.There are so many ways to have your License revoked nowadays....ask those near the A20 in Sidcup.
I wouldn't worry too much about your license. Your licence, however..

Certainly sounds like it.Leading clown on green drove at him at full speed and presto..... totally blocked road for all. They were still arguing and unable to find a solution by the time I was half a mile away.
