Also this clip on Senna v Prost where James lays the blame squarely at Prost.

Compare that to the utter drivel we get now which is all show and personality focused.

Two intelligent, mature, level headed experts simply chatting away about the sport they know inside out.

James is spot on about Senna/Prost too.

Hunt had his favourites and those he actively disliked.

Plus look you've had decades of the top brass threatening to revoke passes if you didn't tow the party line and now even the teams will black ball you. Witness Horny Spice's blocking of Ted when they took umbrage at how he viewed the unmentionable.

I agree with you. There was Mosley's attack on Brundle for saying something critical of him. All he did was repeat the feelings of the pit lane. He was threatened with the loss of his pass. If it can happen to an internationally well-respected journo, there's no point in having opinions.

The standard of everything has dropped.

Watch Dick Cavett’s interview of Richard Burton, and then a modern interview of a celebrity.

Or watch an interview with 60s politicians of any stripe… hell, even - or especially - watch some period vox pops.

Very ordinary people without any particular education or expertise express more considered views with a greater fluency than whoever they find on the street today.

I’m very far off collecting my pension so this isn’t a ‘things were better in my day’ rant.

I think people have got more stupid in a way that almost can’t be solely explained by cultural factors.
