Mk1 Focus central locking

Just bought a Focus as a snotter/run about
( can't belive it's 25 years old !, that makes me feel ancient
Only problem with it is the central locking, no remote fob just good old fashioned keys.
It's a 5 door estate, drivers door if I use the key will lock the drivers door and the rear door passenger side but only the drivers door will unlock the rear door stays locked.
Front door near side will lock all 4 doors but will only unlock itself on the key.
Sitting in the car pressing the door lock button just locks that door, non of the others operate.
The boot remote release dosent operate when you press the dash button.
Anyone got any ideas ?
