Keeping our end up!

Just to let you know that myself and Mrs J have just got back from the Eurohoon. We crossed N France,Belgium,Germany (mmmm..autobahns),Austria (Alps),Italy (Stelvio Pass),Dolomites, GrossGlockner Pass, Austria,Germany and back.

3000+ miles in 10 days...and the Griff did not burp,fart or miss a beat in all 10 days. Not a sausage despite having to put 95 octane in a few times in Italy. Managed 144 mph (GPS verified in Germany) and was averaging 210 miles per 3/4 tank of fuel despite big numbers on mph and tricky low gear mountains etc.

There were 5 Tivs of different flavours on tour and suffice to say the Griff was the daddy in terms of reliability.

I will sort some pics when I can work the technology out but I was sure that you would all take some pride out of the Griff's performance.

Oh...and catch this...despite sitting (and driving) the Griff for 10 days,3000 miles we got home late Sunday and Mrs J took it out yesterday for a 3 hour Hoon around the Midlands...hardcore or what??

Pleased to hear you had a great time and made it back with marriage and car intact. 144MPH, not bad young man.

All those spares you were carrying would have made the car more or less bullet proof for reliability (on the basis that is you had them, then you'd never need them if you follow my logic)

Did you find the car a bit warm in the cabin at all?

Mrs S & I just did 2K miles in sunny France and it was a tad warm at times.

Glad you both got back o.k after what seems to have been a right old Hoot of a Hoon! I guess you'll be up for it again next year huh?! I've spoken to Pete, who despite encountering some misfortune, hasn't been put off a Re-Hoon; he'll be back better and badder next year and I'll hopefully be along in the Griff.

yes it did get a bit warm at times.

The nightmare scenario is rain in a warm country. Luckily we only had the lid on 3 times in 10 days - 1 of those times it was quite cool (rain in the Alps).

I (with help) sorted the heater out to blow cooler air before we went (as opposed to the normal red hot stuff the fans normally blow) and also invested in a low tech plug in fan. This would have worked but it was a clart-on having the cable loose plus trying to stick the suction pad down (not many flat surfaces in the Griff!!). Need to give this one more thought for next time.

You are right: We are currently discussing a hoon upto N Scotland as we enjoyed the mountains so much
