ARGHHHHH
Today is literally 1 day since I concluded and finally finished an insurance nightmare from a 5mph bump (my fault) that's dragged on for 12 months (of which I was without my car for 11). Finally I am free from these insurance muggers, I don't need to think bout them for a bit.
I walk out to my (other) car this morning, to drive to work. I have not used the car for two weeks. What do I find? some f
ker has scraped the front corner of that car and damaged across about 1 sq ft the front bumper and one wheel arch. and, of course, not noticed or just driven off. what a .
Why can't people take responsibility for their actions - whether drivers (and admit to their errors) or insurers (and actually do what they're paid for).
so frustrating. I admit I am questioning (only slightly) the point of caring about cars right now.

Because they are either:
Horrible people who don't give a flying fud about other peoples property.
Ignorant or unaware that they have damaged other peoples property
aware of what they have done and realise the cost and hassle its going to cause them so have driven away anyway.
This is one of the reasons I have gone off owning nice cars - I was constantly getting myself wound up noticing every scratch or blemish whenever I cleaned it and realised I wasn't enjoying the ownership experience as I was afraid to leave it out of sight or wouldn't drive it as much as id like to. Ended up getting a 10 year old Jag wit a few "pre registered" marks on the body work.
Yes I would still be gutted to find the damage you describe, but I don't fret over this car as much as my last (Immaculate M235i)
