B&W At Raw Conversion Stage

Using RSE for my raw conversion.
Just tried, out of interest, knocking back saturation and fiddling with the sliders to produce B&W.
Wondered if anyone else does it this way, rather than in Ye Olde Photoshoppe or similar? Any advantages or disadvantages you've spotted?
