costs for the 25Kmiles/40,k kilometers service on a 03 "S"

The service due at 40,000 KILOMETERES (I guess thats about 25k miles) is coming up on my 2003 986 "S"

How much is this likely to cost in standard things they change

obviously there will /maybe other bits to be changed too

How can I avoid overpaying for things that are not necessary to do (and are not really listed elements of that 40k kilom.service) , that the service centre may "suggest" would be a good idea to get done while I am there

assume you are in UK

the 24k service is approx £570 plus optional £120 for brake fluid change (not necessary if low mileage, non-tracked car)

if the OPC recommends additional work make a note of it, tell them not to touch any of it, take it straight to a good indie and check whether it really needs anything

if it does get them to do it for half the cost

Thanks for the reply adam (been away for last 3 weeks, so,... sorry I did not reply earlier)

re the mileage I'm on about 21 and a half / 22 thousand miles at the mo, but the service is due right now, as it's a full year now since the last service was done

I'b happy to skip the brake fluid and leave it until the next service if I can

but what are the drawbacks to thatAdam/anyone else??

p.s....no I'm not in the UK (am in the Dordogne)and the nearest dealership is 2 full hours away, so when I book it in, they will know that I am a bit of a captive customer, hence my need to know oin advance what they may try to "tag on" to the service to earn some extra £££'s

Change the brake fluid anyway. It deteriorates with age not mileage. My Sep02 MY03 986S has 20K on the clock. Its tracked regularly. By now I've the need to do pads and discs - which I am not letting the OPC do but will get it done at an independent. If your car is not tracked it will probably not need these doing.

Another good one is uneven tyre wear. They'll want to do a geometry and change your tyres. Don't let them. Take it to a decent tyres specialist with the computer alignment equipment and let them do it. Better. Cheaper.
