Missed services early in car's life
Discussion
Hard to know. You'd imagine that it's likely it was serviced as it was new and within warranty but it wasn't stamped and often cars don't come with receipts annoyingly.
You'll never know though and it's at a point in life where it's probably not worth knowing either. Let's face it, there must be tonnes of cars out there with zero care taken. Missing services, low oil, driven hard from cold etc. etc. More often than not they last like any other car so I'm sure you'll be fine.
My cousin's old Swift Sport which he bought new, three years later chatting to him and he's horrified that you actually have to service it. Also driving round on a tyre filled with tyre foam as he thought it was a permanent solution and had no plans on rectifying either. Got rid of that car and no doubt it's still going.

Dude ive just done the same as you but with a 5 year old Clio, however as it one owner and they spec'ed a spare wheel in place of the tyre goo its unlikely the paid £18k for it and never had it serviced in 40k miles, so likely just a non stamped book.
Yours has lasted this long, if its really bothering you get the belt/chain and plugs done along with some fresh oil and filter itll likely be ok, I once had a mate who put lawnmower and motorcycle oil in his 3 year old clio as he didnt understand it was all different and that car celebrated its 18th birthday!

Anyway, you've already bought it, and you won't be able to fix what was (or wasn't) many years ago. Just change all the fluids and filters right away. Ideally, change the timing belt regardless of the service book, because if the belt is already worn out, repairs later could be very expensive.
Highly unlikely it wouldn’t have seen some sort of servicing for the first few years.
Probably a company car where servicing is carried out in-house or possibly a hire car? I have bought ex-hire cars before and all I got was a print out of work done which could easily been lost and with nothing in the service book.
It’s managed 60k since so don’t worry about it.

This. Quite likely the early services were done, and on a old cheap car it makes very little difference to value.Probably a company car where servicing is carried out in-house or possibly a hire car? Our company cars on lease get properly serviced in the first 3 years of life but no paperwork is left in the car.
And yet I had one company car which for 3 years was faithfully presented for servicing at the required mileages and arranged through the leasing company per their terms. At the last 'service' before it went back the service desk at the Ford dealer revealed that for two years it had received nothing more than lights and levels checks. Two years on same oil and filter? No wonder it ran like a bag of spanners.
