Michael Schumacher watch collection sale
Discussion
On the 13th of May Christie’s auctions some beautiful watches from Micheal’s collection - I am a mad fan and would like to get one. Some questions:
1. What do you think I should buy (current theory is go for least market premium)
2. Do you think they will hold their money
Thanks in advance

Some lovely pieces. Are they all from his collection, or only some? not clear on first quick look!
Says 'including the property of Michael Schumacher' so safe to say only some are his.Would be a nice memento/talking point point to own one his watches.
I may place some bids.

I agree, most confusing.I have zero interest in men’s jewellery, but I must admit to own one of Schumachers pieces would be really cool. If I could understand what you were actually bidding on it could be tempting!

I don't understand threads like this
It's a personal decision about something you will wear.
No-one else can decide what you should buy.
My question is about strategy and residual values - I thought there might be others on here who have experience of heavy provenance pieces. It's a personal decision about something you will wear.

If you want to buy/own because of the Schumacher provenance then you really need to be sure that the specific watch was one that he actually had some involvement in selecting/buying/wearing. Most of those were clearly not (far too recent). I've only looked through a few of the listings but haven't yet found one that says explicitly it was an MS watch. One I looked at (a Daytona) says "part of an important private collection" maybe that's one? Though why they would be so coy I don't know.

I thought that too. It says ‘including the property of MS’…I will have a proper look later but I would think it only the older models would have been his. There’s quite a few newer models in there. Unless Rolex continue to send him watches in the last 5 years or so?
If you search for Schumacher in the auction then 8 of the 164 watches are his; the cheapest is estimated at £130,000 to £220,000.

Given how protective and private the family are about Michael, I'm surprised that they are happy to see an auction advertising the flogging off of his watch collection as this purports to be. (I don't think it is at all).
There is a AP royal oak that was a present from Todt to Schumacher in 2003 to celebrate his 6th WDC that was sold in 2003 (probably for charity) for sale, so no longer his property and fleetingly over 20 years ago.

Most of the rest appear to be just well watches, poor taste from the auction house
