Scraping sound when braking

I’m going to take it in to the garage but just wondering re a if anyone had an idea on what it could be? Obv sounds like breaks but I mean does it sound like breaks or pads / discs etc? It’s a 21 plate Corsa

Only just started noticing it last couple of days.

Yes, most likely the brake pads are worn through or just down to some wear indicators.

I’ve had a stone caught in the brake before.

How many miles? It takes me well over 40k miles to need new front discs or pads.

As a rough estimate are these expensive? I mean like around 200, 400, 600 etc?

Just the pads<£100, double that for pads and discs.

Is that per brake or in total?

See if you can see the pads and discs through the wheels. If you can, you'l see whether they are simply worn out. It would be unusual for a new car to need new brakes at such a young age.

Age? Little or nothing to do with it. Brake useage is what wears brake pads and discs, not the calendar.

Have a look on EuroCarParts. Tap your reg in, confirm, select brake parts. That’ll give you some idea. Then add mark-up and labour.

Phone a local independent garage for lower pricing than a main dealer. They’ll know what they’ll charge. We are guessing.

There's a "Just Rolled In" video on YouTube, where the "customer states" that there is a squeak on braking.
The video demonstrates the jacket hung from wire coat hanger above the rear door, hat slid along the handle when braking, and squeaked!

Phoning a local garage to get an actual quote would take less time and effort than posting here, and give an answer you can actually rely on. You can book it in for a quick check at the same time. For all you know, the brakes are fine.
