I was reading the "Simple things you can't do" thread and it got me thinking about the weird talents / abilities we must have that nobody else seems to possess.

Mine is a strange one:

If I put something in the oven and set a timer for, let's say 30 mins, after about 29 mins and 30 seconds I'll get a strange feeling that makes me get up and ask Alexa how long is left on my timer. It is always under a minute and usually when I get up I see the 10 second countdown on the Alexa screen.

I suppose I just have a very accurate perception of time, but it's weird how often I get it right. (no I don't look at clocks etc throughout the 30 mins).

What's yours?

I suspect that is a rather common one because I do that too. Come back just in the nick of time.

I have two special abilities.

1. Being able to tell the exact amount I can drink before I'm unable to leave the pub to make it home without incident.

2. Indicate correctly on roundabouts.

I have the time thing. Always seem to know when to come back and it's all but done within a few seconds.

This is quite bizarre but I often seem to lock the toilet and never remember doing so. As in, I will think “dammit, haven’t locked the door” and will see it locked and have absolutely no recollection of doing so whatsoever.

Changing channel when the adverts start and changing back almost exactly when the adverts stop.

I can raise one eyebrow independently, Roger Moore-style.

But I can do it with either eyebrow.

Not met many others with a similar (obviously life-changing) ability

cue loads of others saying they can do it

I think I can tell if a person is living or dead just by looking at their photograph. If a person is dead, for me the picture seems to take on a different look. I can’t describe it, but there is a type of “sadness” that the picture takes on.

To “test” I’ll look at online photos of casts of films (where just the actor and character name are shown, no other info) from the 80’s / 90’s where there is a good mix of people still alive or no longer with us. I’ll look specifically for actors I have never heard of to avoid bias and then try to guess. I’m right normally around 95% of the time.

I don’t believe in any mumbo jumbo rubbish, it’s just something I noticed.

Hate to say it, but this is something I can do too lol. I can do it to music which always makes my 3 year old chuckle.

Have full control of my dreams. I normally let them play out but if something happens I don't like I say a keyword and can stop time, rewind and replay it for a different outcome.

If you can indicate correctly on roundabouts I'll forgive your drinking as long as you're not doing both at the same time.

People who can't indicate annoy me and I grew up in a city where they think it's weak to indicate where you're turning.

I always indicate, even correctly on roundabouts.

Being aware that I'm dreaming, then being able to do absolutely anything I want without repercussions.

As I head into my dotage this could go badly wrong. scratchchin
