After much deliberating I've just bought a 2001 Y Tuscan in Chameleon (SwordFish) Blue.

Absoultely cracking car but how do I get rid of the groaning/sqeeking roof. The noise is coming from the back part of the roof where it fits against the roll bar...

Any help would be much appreciated..even if its "they all do this" reply...

Thanks

Maj

Clear selotape, or something similar.

Are you sure it isnt the rear screen squeaking? Again, the "solution" is to apply a strip of selotape to stop the plastic/fibreglass contact.

its definitely the roof groaning - I've tried it with the rear screen off.

I'll give the selotape a try later.

Thanks

Fish, did you ever take a picture of your solution? Can you post it? If not can you please send it over to ghostyoshark@hotmail.com.

Thanks.

This should have been fixed by the dealer. I know I complained of the same problem to Henley and they fixed this on mine with the velcro solution on the roof and rear glass. They did an excellent job which really made a difference.

There is a fix from TVR, they supply a strip of "felt" like stuff ( a bit like the non hook side of velcro) and it works great, ask your delaer (unless of course you bought privately) and they should be able to fix it for you

Heard that as a temporary fix, smearing the contact points with silicon lube prevents the friction causing the squeaking/groaning. This needs to be repeated regularly.

Is my Tuscan the only one that has never suffered from squeaking? Or was this sorted sometime before late 2001?

Maj,
Mines was squeaking at 2 points, Roof at the rear of drivers side, and rear window at the top of the passengers side,I popped into the factory last Thursday whilst I was over on the mainland, the lads at the service dept couldn't have been any more helpful and put a silicon lubricant around the contact points where the roof meets and on the rear window seal.I done a further 800 or so miles after that with not a single squeak, the lad who applied the lubricant did say it would not be a permemant solution, but I now know what to do when the squeak reappears, if the silicon gets washed off or dries up with heat etc. I done over 1200 miles in the 4 days which was fantastic, and not once did I encounter anything but friendliness and an appreciation for the car.

Hope this helps,

Best Regards,

James Sim
