I am sick of hearing about ashes on the BBC and other media.

The only ashes should be the burning of the BBC :)

What is the big deal ? It is just another boring game of cricket. :(

Nobody in the real world talks or cares about cricket, so why are we being brain washed by the media ?

At work nobody talks about cricket, so it makes it a pleasure to be at work this week :)

what real world is that then...??

Cricket is a bit like Blackadder.
If you get it, its the best thing ever.
If you dont, its just awful.
And if you get it and someone else doesnt, you just cant help thinking that they just might be a little bit thick and should probably stick to football (or Home Sweet Home)

I know its a bit snobbish...and
no offence intended of course.

I love test cricket. I'm pissed off with the Man U effect of this but hopefully this might resolve into test going mainstream again - when the sky contract runs out

Awww you stick in the mud,its well known that sport can lift a nation with the 'Feel good factor',to be honest ive never been much of a cricket fan, more of a football fan but even ive allowed my self the enjoyment of victory and getting stuck into the *ASHES*,go and allow yourself a few beers and drink to the good health of sport in this country thanks to the Rugby and Cricket teams.

"yeah thats when it hits your leg then hits the wickets, you see leg before wicket you get it LBW?"

yes love whatever and she wonders why I spend so much time on here

Is that like the Merc G-wagen? I never got that either.

I get annoyed at people doing it down. We rarely achieve anything that is worth celebration and the country seems to be overrun by pessimists and those who would only see the worst in society and degrade proper achievement.

It's not often England win anything. Particularly against the (previously) best team in the world, especially when they are our oldest enemy in the sport. If you can't stand this, imagine if England football team had just beaten Germany in the World Cup Final

Whilst I appreciate the bandwagon jumping of numpties who couldn't tell you who played at Sophia Gardens etc. can be annoying, I don't think you should deny England their rightful place in the sun

Cheer up for crying out loud

Not a band-wagon sort of person myself... I think the first test series I watched most of was the 1990 series against India when Gooch got his 333. Have watched a good few since - so this one is a bit special.

Oh - I nearly forgot - The Ashes

I dont like football or cricked. What is it I am supposed to get. I understand the rules but neither games hold any interest to me.
