Pulled into the local BP this morning to fill up prior to the protests... and before anyone starts I had under half a tank, so I'd barely make it to work and back over the next few days.

Anyway, there I am filling up the car, minding my own, when a woman cries "It's not fair, that thing drinks fuel...!"

Eh? What? Morning? Hello?

I then manage to receive a barrage of abuse about how much petrol my car must use, and that I'm not eco-friendly and I should be more responsible and leave some fuel for other people... er.. there's no queue?!?

After quietly pointing out that she should mind her own, I then had the delightful pleasure of watching her fill with £6 of fuel... in her V8 Discovery... :banghead:

Clearly Tarquin and Belvadir couldn't walk the 100 yards to school this morning...

What a muppet!

I'm not in today as am out on Zone, but filled up last night as the 80 mile/day really eats the fuel up!

You should have told her it was an LPG conversion - I doubt she'd have put 2 and 2 together!

Would have tempted to reply something along the lines of "Yes but life isn't fair is it? If it was, I wouldn't have to put up with fking stupid bints such as yourself haranguing me while I'm minding my own business".

To be fair, I was in a world of my own. You know sometumes you're just so dumbstruck at what has happened you just can't believe it's happening..? It was one of those moments

I just couldn't beleive it was coming from someone who was filling a V8 Disco... I mean seriously - define irony...

After quietly pointing out that she should mind her own,

Precisely, and that would have been, my response,
closely followed by spilling copious amounts of fuel on forecourt, whilst making a mobile phone call, and donning a full face helmet.

Pod. The most surprising thing for me is that you didn't use this as an 'in'
Normally I would have expected the answer "Well maybe we can discuss fuel economy over drink"

Obviously people have been panic buying... When I got to Tesco I was greeted by an empty pallet....They say there will be another delivery later in the week, I'm considering blockading the brewery

Mmmmm - 30mpg in the Chim, about 15mpg in the Disco ?

I would have thought that it was her choice of vehicle that drinks fuel.

Stupid woman.

OH and while we are at it. I keep being told that the Chim is thirsty - I had a 307 estate as a hire car the other day to get down to Poole and got 35mpg. The Chim manages 31 so it cannot be that bad can it.

Went to my local for a few litres of their finest this morning. Big sign outside "NO PETROL, DIESEL ONLY".

"Bugger" thinks I.

Drove in and got a from the owner. 35l of super later, chewed the cud for a bit at the till. He sold 30,000l of regular u/l in nine hours yesterday (normally three days worth of petrol). Strangely enough he's not sold any more super or diesel than normal. He asked one daft bint (who he knows drives two cars, one petrol the other diesel) why she didn't come in to fill up the other car as well and she said "It's only a petrol crisis"

Did get some odd looks from other drivers (queue for Tescos) as I filled up. Guess there will be a few at work this morning trying to work out when MG ever made a diesel MGB Roadster
