Respray thoughts...
Discussion
After 16000 miles, it looks like someone has taken a machine gun to the front of my Grigio Titanio Tamora.
Other than the front, the paintwork is fine.
Was told by a dealer to expect to pay around £1000 for a front end respray although perhaps an independant bodyshop would be cheaper?
From the people who've had this done:
- Does it effect residuals (up or down). I think if any other car than a TVR had this work done, I'd think crash repairs rather than aesthetics.
- Depending on the quality of the work + given its metallic paint, can you tell its been resprayed in certain lights?
- Is there anything other than armourfend available these days to protect the new paint?
- Anyone recommend any independant bodyshops? I've heard these guys are quite good... http://www.option1sportscars.co.uk
- Anything else I should consider before carrying out this work?
Cheers,
James

Just had my Cerbera fully repainted by Option 1 as nobody could match faded Rosso Pearl. They did a very good job email me if you want some photot's
My Tam in the same colour as yours (Grigio Titanio silver), was also re-spreayed at Option 1 - perfect colour match and top service. If you're within a 50 mile radius, they will collect your car and bring it back, FoC! They have now also been officially appointed by TVR Engineering itself!
Regarding resale value, I believe it would increase it slightly, as whoever's interested in your car will know it's been loved and looked after. It's quite common for a lot of Tivvers to have a front end respray at least once every 2 years.
(If you look at my Tam in my profile, you'll see Option 1s work at the front, the spoiler and bonnet vent was black before I asked them to spray them body colour
, Oh, and you get a little pot of touch up paint too) >> Edited by chris watton on Wednesday 14th September 13:10
Thanks for the responses.
bilton_d - I think your car is actually on their website. Looks good.
Chris - have thought before about spraying the black bits silver but always thought I quite liked the contrast. Will have a think about it when they give me a price. Have emailed them but not sure if they'll quote without seeing the car.
Good idea about the receipt too. Will definitely do that.
Anyone any thoughts on paint protection? I'm not a fan of armourfend due to being able to see the lines quite clearly over the bodywork.

Ah, thats yours up on the ramps is it? Good stuff.
Good to have someone with the same colour not experiencing problems. I've just heard in certain lights, the resprayed panels can look completely different from the others.
Something to do with the metallic flecks in the new paint not being the same orientation as the original flecks when it was first painted? Probably worrying over nothing.
