Ferrari tuners abound at Frankfurt

Supercharged F430 makes 636bhp, up by 200bhp

More new cars from the Frankfurt motor show include a couple of Ferrari tuners, Hamann and Novitec Rosso, both finding the F430 eminently tunable.

Hamann Ferrari F430

This company claims to extract 533bhp from Ferrari's 4.3-litre V8, up from 490bhp in standard tune. It features a modified exhaust manifold system with special sport catalyst and sports silencer, a modified brake system, a new aerodynamic kit, and special 20-inch wheels.

The total including the car will set you back a cool €175,000 (about £118,000) in Germany, including VAT. Note that, in the UK, the car alone costs that much...

Novitec F430 Coupe F1 Supersport

Novitec, from south Germany, moves the power game on even further, extracting 636bhp via a pair of Rotrex superchargers with their own oil circuit. Torque is up from 343lb-ft to a massive 470lb-ft at 6,250 rpm. Claimed performance is pretty stellar: 0-62mph takes 3.7 seconds and top speed is said to be 217mph.

In addition, you get a high performance braking system with eight-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear gripping 380 mm discs front and rear. Other items include a Novitec KW sports suspension, 19-inch (front) and 20-inch (rear) alloys, aerodynamic body kit, an alcantara and leather interior including a Supersport-design steering wheel. All yours for a cool €222,000 (about £149,500).

Novitec Ferrari F430 F1 Sport Spider

For a little less, you could take the tweaked Spider home. Power is up 100bhp to 520bhp via a Novitec Performance stage 2 system including carbon airbox, modified engine electronics, and sport exhaust system. Torque is up to 361lb-ft at 5,350rpm, powering the open-top to 62mph in 3.9 seconds and a top whack of 200mph. Other additions are as above, and the price is a mere €206,000 (about £138,750).

Ferrari's should be left well alone IMHO. How much power do you want? Ferrari's are hardly what you would call slow. If you want an overpowered car that can't get all it's power down onto the tarmac, buy an AMG Merc.

And you'd actually want them to be more powerful???

You have to admire them for doing it really dont you?
Cost however is pretty frightening

They do look lush though

Yes. And the standard 430 makes 483 bhp, not 420.

Ciao

Looks alright to me, especially the Novitec one, could do without the rear spoiler though, and needs a twin turbo kit, if your going for more power you may as well go the whole hog

I don't imagine it would be much fun fitting a pair of turbos to a 430. Superchargers easier to fit and if the aim was to give it better response off the line, or for quick bursts on a slower speed windy road probably better than a turbo. But then again turbo lag is a thing of the past.

by the way r988 are you a member of the Euro car club in adelaide? I recognise one of the photos in your profile

I live in London now, which photo do you recognise?

I know Superchargers give better response but I just like the idea of Twin Turbos, have you been following the Twin Turbo F355 in Melbourne done by Nizpro on the Ferrarichat forum?

Its a real beast, I just love the idea of an insanely powerful twin turbo Ferrari (blame the F40)

Ive seen the photos of the silver beemer before. I think that I saw them with MillRat (michael myllynen)(hes a member of ECCA). I have also seen the 200sx around town before.

Yes the idea of a twin turbo fezza does get one excited. would be fun to unleash in NT. Or maybe grampians.

better yet, a twin turbo ultima.

I bet some of the night racers in japan would be interested. whether any actually get there i would assume not.
most probably end up in extensive collections only to be brought out on the occasional track day or for p*ssing contests with their cashed up friends.

Cashed up people in the Middle east, having the fastest car there is fairly important for the ego and they have the money to spend as fast as they want to go.

Fosse - The 200SX isn't mine, just a photo I took from the UniSA campus (City West) on North Tce. The BMW is just a standard 528i Motorsport, I owned it from 2003 to about may/june 2004. I sold it to a guy from Bathurst (or near there) so I don't think its the same car (plates UGK628). There are a couple of Motorsports about but they are rare, normally there is one that drives up and down Torrens Rd. Mostly they seem to be in silver, though I have seen a couple in Red. There is also this one www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0246/article.html

There is always someone with more dollars than cents. like the people who order the racing stripe on their 430, thats a 10k option here.
You could spend a whole lot more on lesser cars though

r988
definately the same photo of the motorsport, (the big 5 on the wall gives it away), but being in NSW now I definately wont see it about.

Hate to think what these upgrades would do to residuals. Drop like a stone I wouldn't doubt. I think Ferraris should be left as original as possible.

its only a 430, not a 250GTO, they'll be as common as muck in a couple of years...

Whats wrong with giving a ferrari some mods...its not that they are some kind of michelangelo sculpture or a botticelli...they are machines, if zou can improve them, why not......

I'll have the Harmon Coupe and the Novitech spyder thanks...

But I don't really like tuned cars much. If I was tuning something, it'd be a toyota echo (or Yaris, or Vitz depending on where you live) and it would just be to pop a turbo, intercooler, computer chip and exhaust on a black 1.3 door, tint the windows black and shove on some BBS Eurolace rims. What's the point in tuning a ferrari? Rather than improving it, you'll probably just make it worse to drive, and even if it is faster, the kind of poseur who splashes out on the extra fruit probably would only drive the thing at 5/10ths for fear of looking like an arse in front of his Finance buddies when he spins it.

Still...

Guess you didn't see the videos posted a few weeks ago then of the Fezz360 at the Sydney drags trying to do a burnout to show off and plonking it straight into the wall . There are quite a few FezzDrivers who think they are michael schumacher after buying one and end up plonking it through a wall backwards, no shortage of ferrari drivers with more money than talent, the more sensible ones would be driving within their limits, the smart ones would have done an advanced driver course.
