A small red sports car passed me this morning, just outside Colchester and I would guess headed for the Ipswich->Felixstowe car run. I *thought* the reg was DOU347T but must have got it wrong, as MOT checker has not helped me ID the car.

Looked like a Triumph Spitfire/GT6, with a low slung centre exhaust setup, but the rear window was very wrapped around. Thought it might be a Marcos but the 1600 GT has a square/two line reg plate, this car had a standard rectangular plate.

it was that sort of rear screen but i don’t think it had the Cortina style rear lights, or square reg plate, that Google image search is showing me..

I was cycling as it came past me and was focussed mainly on trying to remember the VRM so may easily have misremembered the details…

Probably a completely invalid choice, but a Honda S800 coupé came into my mind

It's a TVR Taimar. Specifically, this TVR Taimar.

Thankyou for satisfying my curiousity! It sounded good as it went past me. Your car?

Talking of curiosity...

Is that lovely rear screen custom to TVR or was it borrowed from something more mainstream?

Thanks.

Very nice indeed , you can't beat a nice TVR - I was admiring a stunning red 1966 Griffith 200 V8 at Oulton Park only the other week.

But when I read OP I had a brief thought - when did anyone last see a Fairthorpe TX GT - that really is a rara avis , as we say round here

Not mine, no. Sadly. Would love one but it's not a lot bigger than the GT6 I need to sell this year because it's too small.
