There’s always someone who will tell you that his results were not so good recently but a net worth (largely in cash or cash equivalents) of $31B sort of destroy that theory
He must have been an absolute mathematical genius and very generous to his charities so hopefully he’s gone to quant fund heaven

Yet still 'only' the 51st richest person in the world. Staggering isn't it.

Mid table on PH Ometer I’d say. Don’t we all have a pot of a few $billion?

That makes SJP seem almost reasonable...

Except of course the performance was almost worth the fees.

To be as 'anal' as Simons, their net return is actually 37.84% (Geometric Mean) nerd

Although with Medallion being capped due to capacity constraints, the profits are returned annually rather than compounding, so geometric mean isn't really a valid measure of performance. In that sense it's more like an exceptionally good operating business than a fund.

Still an absolute legend who lived an enormously accomplished life though (for anyone interested, "The Man Who Solved the Market" is well worth a read). Decent innings for a lifelong chainsmoker as well.
