944 virgin on lookout
Discussion
I think that the one for £4000 sounds better (as the seller has known the car from new and it has FPSH), and you could probably get it for £3995 as well.
But really, you should probably look at both, and make your decision on condition. Also, your decision could be made on your impression of the seller - if hes a bit of a chav, chances are the car has been modded.
Good Luck

Looks like some good hunting, although I am in the US and not familiar with car values and the pound sterling in the UK, and how it relates to car values per dollar on this side of the pond. I will say, I purchased a 1984 944 that had 135,000 miles on the odometer, and I am still enjoying that car 5 years later. They're built well, but they demand attention to maintenance issues. Once you deal with the maintenance issues (timing belt, primarily) then you're good to go several more years.
As always, with a 944, "condition" is always more important than "milage" on the odometer. You can have a lower mile car that was owned by some kid trying to get by on the cheap, or one that has been blown up. I would always go for the "adult owned and maintained" example that had ALL RECEIPTS to PROVE what was done to keep the car in good shape, and also to verify the milage from date to date.
Here is a link you and the other 944 guys and gals may want to use as a resource.

You will see my blue 1984 944 here, as well as my 1983 Silver 928.
Happy reading and happy hunting. The 944 remains one of the best steering cars ever put onto the public highways.
