There should be a vac pipe on there. Connects to the stepper motor housing on the back of the plenum.

Thank you for your reply.

Would you, by any chance be talking about this pipe, (which has a damaged rubber bung to cover it up)
As in the photo.

I think maybe the later cars have them on the top and bottom. I have a 99 400 with that setup.

I use one for the fuel regulator and the other for full manifold vacuum to the distributor.

Thank you both.
Yes, a great picture.
And it certainly looks like a connection that I need.

I have owned the car since 2013.
I have only just noticed it.
Idle speed is ok, at around 700-800 revs.

All I need now is some pipe.

Once again thank you both.

Thank you nz.

My car is a 98. 400.
I will check if there is also a pipe on the bottom.
On my car,
The pipe from the distributor goes on top of the plenum near the large air intake pipe

Ok, have checked it.
Yes there is a pipe on the bottom. Nothing connected to it.
You can just see it (reflection in the mirror)
That’s three pipes, with nothing connected to them.

The picture in your first post is the fuel pressure regulator and needs connecting to one of the blanked off vacuum ports, your car certainly wont run 100% with it disconnected like that.
Maybe someone did it as the regulator is faulty but who knows.

Thank you for the info.

I have now brought a length of pipe.
And fitted it from the fuel regulator to the bottom vacuum pipe.

With a bit of luck, hopefully it will improve fuel efficiency .

Once again thank you all for your help.
