Being chicken I'm going to do my 1st t/d with the noble at an airfield where I know the layout & can have a proper play (hopefully in both wet & dry conditions). I am however prepared for the fact that my 1/2 worn tyres will probably be completely decimated.
So.......I either need a set of part worns to put on before the track to save my nice SO3's OR a full set of brand new tyres to replace the SO3's after the track. (Always liked Goodyesr Eagle F1's so thinking a set of these if new required).
Questions then are:
Where on earth can I get part worn (or used track) tyres?
Anyone had F1 GSD3's on a Noble & are they OK (sidewall flex an issue?)
Car is a 3r by the way (SJ's old car).

Trash the SO3's, get a set of Corsa's put on there, upgrade the shocks to the Nitrons or Ohlins and you'll never look back....

Was hopeing you wouldn't say that
Bang goes the cheap learning trackday!
Actually, not sure if it's on std shocks or not (given that the engine isn't std I think I better check).

If you don't overheat the tyres then they will probably last imho. Just don't do too much sideways and don't stay out once they start going off. Also make sure you get the pressures right.

Hhhmm, well I'd agree that Corsa's have much more grip than S03's and they're less easy to melt than S03's too...but change to them for a first trackday? Why?

You'll learn as much on S03's as any other tyre. Not going to break any lap records maybe, but lets face it, if you really wanted to go fast (and nothing else) on a trackday you'd not be driving a Noble.

BTW I'm running on Dunlop's now (long story, they were free!) and I'd rate them up with S03's so that's another choice.

Completely agree. I'm not really a fan of trackday rubber as it costs more, wears faster and lets you corner faster to no real benefit. A lot of people seem to use it to make up for talent deficits! Also if you do cock up you are going that bit faster through the corner which makes things harder to collect.

Oh well, my RS has them OEM (not as all out as Corsa motorsports admitedly) so at least I can use them to compensate for lack of talent

I said to trash the SO3s on track!

Nothing better than using the track on SO3s to learn the car, then when they have gone, stick a set of Corsa's on there.

Ah, you said trash the S03's. I think we took that to mean bin them straight away.
