There is a 250 mile Sagaris on eBay that looks like there is something wrong with the paintwork unless I am mistaken. Anyone know the car?

The photo says it all. The paintwork's fine, I think there's something wrong with the owner! Do you think if he can't be bothered to wash it for his ad, he'd have been bothered to run it in over 275 miles? It looks to me like it's either been taken grass track racing or it's left a circuit at high speed at some point in it's short life.

Personally I wouldn't touch it but I guess you could take your chance with the warranty if it was cheap enough.

Safety Features:
Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS),
Driver Airbag,
Passenger Airbag

All news to TVR I guess.... must have fitted them by mistake!

Hi, I contacted the owner, who turned out to be a property developer. If you look at his 'other items' he has a number of cars for sale.

Think the reserve price is: £45250. Sounds like a good price on the basis that you would have the 3 year warranty.

It was up on ebay last week, and it didnt make the reserve price.

Dealers would only give £40k on trade in, so it could be a good bargin for someone. I would get it quickly inspected if bought, its not done enough mile to have and dammage I guess, but the Sargaris is not for everyone...

Out of interest. Or an interesting debate:

If you bought it and had it inspected by your dealer and they found it had had the rev limiter cut in a few times and obviously had no attempt at running in meaning that there may be possible long term problems looming, how would this affect the warranty situation as this would obviously be down to 'owner abuse'?

If the warranty claim related to engine failure, then the issue of abuse would obviously arise. TVR, like most peolpe that wish to stay in business, would make a business decision.

I would expect they would analyse the failure, decide if failure mode related to abuse, and advise dealer that the warranty covered the repair - or not.

I see nothing wong with this course of action. Its a simple case of buyer beware.

As an aside, what makes you think that the current software would identify over revving?

I thought the car did take rev data all the time. As do most modern cars. What I don't know is if it records what revs at what mileage. Maybe at the first service the car is checked to see if it's still within recommended running in rpm. If that is the case then it is a very interesting point regarding the warranty. Yikes! I definitely wouldn't touch it!

In the TVR handbook, it says the warrenty is not tranferable, but Im sure this would be a goodwill exception here

If it's as accurate as my tuscan which has recorded data
max revs 19000
max speed of 247MPH

Should not be a problem

Very good thanks. I was going the other way as you went through the Twyford cut in your normal 'sedate' manner

Now that's an interesting debate to start!

Certainly is. If the TVR warranty is transferrable then it is worth the money, if it isnt I think you need to knock another 3-5K off it depending upon how much people believe the new improved quality line...
