if one of our users has a mac laptop with office for macs on it is this completely compatible with our office 2003? are there any weird bits eg access wont cross over perfectely etc or is it basically the same?
Pretty much yes, word and excel will both open up fine but there is no version of access for Mac. Filemaker is the preferred alternative and much better IMO.
The later version of Office for the Mac have a compatability checker as well so you can ensure that files created on the Mac will open on the Windows version . You can even get it to check that the file will open in old version.
