Sorry to spam the group with various different threads but I have an issue with my remote boot release. To be fair to the seller he did mention that this has happened a couple of times and directed me to ua manual fix to release my boot which has worked but I was wondering if this is a common problem and if so is there an easy fix? Advice thankfully received!

Not best to leave info on how people can break into your boot on a public forum.

That aside do you mean a release on a keyfob or the button under the dash?

Yes, good point and I've now amended!

I'm talking about the remote release activated by pressing the little button on the side of the key. I hadn't found the boot release button on the dash so just checked the manual to find its somewhat hidden location. I'll try that if I have the same issue again.

Just FYI the ignition needs to be on to use the button under the dash to release the boot, unless someone has rewired it.

That's a modification to standard ... I had mine modified and it works fine ... also it's a feature on an upgraded alarm system (at least mine is)

The button on the key works without ignition on , but must be unarmed
The button under the dash needs to ignition on
and I have an extra button under the boot lid , so I can open the boot from outside when unarmed if I haven't got the fob (for example when the key is in the ignition and running)

Is your key similar to this :-

If so , it's an upgraded alarm system.

The button under the dash as per the manual below

There's also a similar button on the other side of the steering wheel that turns off the dashboard lights.

As above the ignition needs to be on for the boot release but the engine not running.

If the above doesn't work it could be an issues with the solenoid or the wiring to it. I think it's accessible behind the carpet to the right of the latch.

Yes my key is exactly the same as that (with the immobiliser fob too).

Thanks Indigo, I saw that in the owners' manual so I'll see how I get on with it. If it's a temperamental solenoid I would hope that's a fairly easy fix. P.S. Indigo, when I bought your secret santa present a couple of years ago I didn't envisage having an Indigo Chimaera of my own!

Wow small world.

Your Chimaera may bring you some frustration but just remember when you're driving down a country road with the sun shining there's nothing better for the money.

Just seen on pmc_3's rebuild thread

This might help if you need to look at the solonid.

Indigochim... Have you got a little button on the side of your key ?
Maybe the seller got a new key with the boot release button (meant for the upgraded system) , but never upgraded the system ? Has the button on the key ever worked since you bought the car ? Does the release under the dash work with ignition on ?
