My experiences of buying my first new 911 have left me wondering where to go next. Certainly not the 997 TT that's I put my name down for. I don't want to give Porsche another penny.
But what else is there that combines everyday transport with 911 performance? They know that too.

997 Ruf R Turbo?
It would be a 24 month proposition. I couldn't afford £1k a week depreciation. Although I hear that the Ruf customer service is second to none. No, too much money for me to afford.

I thought the ruf cars were much more than the standard. I've got £1k a week in my head because someone I know has just been bid £65k by an OPC that supplied him his 996 TT S (£110k) 9 months ago with 8k on the clock. Frightening.

OMG! I guess you are right. That is just shocking.
I have no idea what the price of a RUF VIN car would be, maybe adamt or GuyR would be able to provide a guide.
Obviously in a different league but I keep thinking about a BTR conversion for my 993, which is around 30K (Euros).

This is all a UK OPC problem - they want to make a quick buck and don't care if you come back or not. The sales people probably won't be around when you come to upgrade so they couldn't give a shit.
By your UK Porsche at a German OPC, might even save a bit. You'll get great service and the same (or even less) waiting time.
The sales people in the UK give Porsche a bad name.

And I though the GT1 based TT, GT2/3 engines were bomb-proof. Is nothing sacred!
A good friend of mine has a Bentley Continental GT (£115K) he has had a few problems but has always had an Audi A8 4L (delivered and collected) and at present has another GT delivered direct from Bentley in Crew.

Perhaps they just don't want the stock that much. If its a 9 month old car, it strikes me they are looking for even more than the usual 10k spread at this price level. I'm sure he could sell it privately for considerably more, or even get more from another OPC.
