My speedo was replaced at 999 miles. They put a foreign spec one in, so even though the face reads MPH more or less accurately, the odometer clocks up in KM's (Verified on several French toll roads, e.g. on a 400KM stretch it registered 404 miles, therefore with 30K KM's on the clock it has actually done 19,000 miles + 1,000 on original speedo.

Make sure the replacement reads in MPH to avoid the hassle of explaining the above.
Good luck!

P.s. The positive sides to the above are I think I am getting about 35 mpg, and it has had all the serviceing done as if reading in miles, e.g 24,000 mile service done at 24,000 KM's.

Sounds like a common problem this Milage thing. I have been given this number. They are called Speedy Cables in Swansea. Convienient for someone who lives in Sheffield dont you think. The person who told me 6 to 8 weeks for a new clock was TVR Blackpool themselves. There is no way i will be satisfied with a 2.0ltr Mondeo for that long. I must ring them tomorow, first thing. They have taken the whole clock out, the cylinder shape thing with the cables out the back. It is crimped so you cant get into it. I need a new one me thinks? Thankyou for your support. I suggest not doing anything for a few weeks and driving the car (the speedo works right?) - many people have reported the odometer's fixing themselves when they have become stuck in this way. It's usually something to do with the widget inside not being able to flick the 1,000 mile indicator over ... since yours stopped at 999 miles I would suggest this is the case!

You could also try reversing a bit longer than usual (find somewhere quiet!) as this might free up the digits.
