I am new to this posting lark but now I have joined the clan I suppose I better get to know the rules.
Is it considered bad manners to simply post a question?
If no, my question is, what is the best adhesive to use to stick the hood to the 'roll over hoop'? (I am sure that is not the correct term but I guess you know what I mean)
I have had a quick search in the forum, I can't find the exact answer, I am sure it will be in there, but, I just wanted an excuse to say

Best adhesive? Probably a good contact adhesive. There's one that comes as a gel which allows a degree of adjustability while it fixes, Homebase carry it but I can't recall the name at the moment.
Are you sure its supposed to be glued though? All the ones I've seen are stretched over then fixed at the back with carpet tacks. Looks real professional if you squint up through the rear window

The cloth bit is stuck down with contact adhesive, go to a builder's merchant and ask for 'takes-your-fingers-with-it' contact adhesive.....
I do find the carpet tacks at the back very messy though, if I don't sell the car quickly enough I might just get that retrimmed with a proper bit of leather.

Yep, didn't read the post properly! 
The gel adhesive probably isn't the one then, you want one with instant grab. The spray one glue I use to fit my carpets was pretty good. Contrary to what you'd expect, the spray adhesive is less messy than spreadable (no stringing, and no chance of leaving your skin behind!) and its pretty easy to spray the adhesive exactly where it needs to go. Again Homebase do it, in the carpet section for glueing down carpet tiles.

Just be very careful doing it. When the hood is being folded down, theres a fair amount of pressure from the rear screen which wants to push the material away from the hoop. I'd glue it and let it dry with the hoop up (stays locked), without the roof on, to get as much downwards pressure as you can.
