What do diesel drivers refer to petrol stations as?

Petrol station. Haven't owned a petrol as either of the main cars for several years however anything involving the process of re-fuelling said diesels is referred to as "I'm going to get petrol / the car needs petrol / did you get petrol / petrol has gone up again"

For me, ‘petrol’ mainly. Sometimes ‘Fuel’.

We have a diesel and a petrol car, and when we need to get diesel we refer to it as diesel and when we need to get petrol we refer to it as petrol.

If you are normal, you will probably just say "petrol station". The range of libations served extends beyond what the establishment markets itself on. Same as how if you were meeting a friend at a cocktail bar, knowing you were going to order a coke, you wouldn't call it a coke bar.

Service station seemed to be a fairly common term when I was a child in the 90s. But maybe that's gone the way of the dustcart (replaced by "bin lorries")

‘I’m going to get some diesel’

And my Google maps also names them as petrol stations.

Petrol being short for petroleum, which is just a generic name for mineral oils. Gasoline is really a brand name, but one specific to fuel oil. And Diesel is After the inventor of the compression ignition engine.

I say
‘I need to fill up’
and it’s a fuel station. Not a petrol station, there will be petrol, diesel, maybe LPG, and EV chargers.
Probably an energy station may be a better name.

A petrol station sells both petrol and diesel, I.e you can buy diesel from a petrol station. What you buy from it, does not change its name.

In the same way, if you go to the supermarket and just buy some fruit and veg, you don't say you are going to the greengrocers, do you?

Mainly petrol station sometimes say going to get some fuel. Never called it a diesel station
