9991.1 Turbo vs Jag F Type SVR vs BMW M8 vs AM DB11 vs ?
Discussion
Indeed, my condolences my friend - a decent car should take your mind off things.
The Porsche turbo will be great, they all are. I’ve never driven one but those M8’s are bonkers fast - very very fast, plus they can be had for a decent discount from new. My SLK 55 is quick with circa 400bhp, but this M8 thing was on another level fast. Yikes.
The AM’s will be an event each time you get into it and the residuals will be solid.
PS, don’t forget Audi R8’s. In V10 guise they’re a weapon.
Happy hunting

I only have any experience of driving the Jag and the M8, the M8 was undoubtedly fast, probably quicker than the Jag but but it didn't really feel it as it's so insulated and big. as it doesn't make the noise of the Jag or feel anywhere near as raw you'd have to be doing crazy speeds before it could start to show it's "specialness". for a car i was using every day and filling with stuff I'd take the M8 but then I'd see an F-Type and lust for that and if I were ever driving for driving pleasure I'd want to be in the Jag. I'd never just take the M8 for a drive but I would the Jag, it's also the one I'd turn and look at again after getting out of it
I'd also say the P450 is a much better value proposition than the R, very few hardware changes, looks the same and for very little money can have exactly the same or more power than the R

Funnily enough I was having a similar convo with a friend the other evening who has owned all those mentioned apart from the M8 which has never been on his radar + many others - CaliT, R8, AMG GT, 570S, Vantage, 911 Turbo.
Used as his only car, daily with varying journey profiles.
His take on it is that he'd have another -
F-type SVR for the dual personality i.e refined, smooth when pottering about but complete hooligan/hotrod when the mood takes you and a small footprint compared to others.
R8 V10 but in convertible form and in a subtle colour.
CaliT for the roof down experience as per R8 but more space for life stuff.
AMG GT but with the optional seats.
He wouldn't have another Vantage or DB11, 911. The AM's were riddled with annoying issues and glitches and quality is perceived not actual.
He found the 911 boring and not special enough...fast (obv), competent but unmemorable.
He's currently in a 650S...
My take is they are all great in their own way and the shortlist will be easily narrowed down after driving them.
Happy shopping.

For a fun all rounder I'd say F Type R or SVR but as you have an XKR maybe something different.
I was disappointed with the 991.2 GTS I tried. Awful road noise without any compensating raw driving thrills.
Haven't driven one myself but I suggest an AMG GT-S might be worth a look.
Mid engined options maybe a bit too compromised as an allrounder. Ferrari and Aston perhaps a bit high maintenance as a daily and will be difficult to sell once leggy.

I came into a similar amount of "one time only" money to spend on a 'dream'
I went 981 Spyder - but because I REALLY wanted a manual and an open top...
Before I decided on these must haves my shortlist was:
2014 Vantage S coupe
R8 coupe
991 GTS
Alfa Guilia QV
Morgan 3 wheeler
F-Type coupe
NSX
Emira
AMG GT open top
and lastly but the LC500 coupe
If and when I change my car (when I can't get in or out of it) it'll be for an LC
