From their website.

Yes but once I’ve sold and am without the car. Do I cancel or can I suspend insurance I wonder. Your vehicle remains your responsibility until the vehicle has been collected and paid for, so you should not cancel your insurance and tax, or transfer your V5C until the sale has been concluded.
Will depend on your insurance company. Assuming they have a call centre that answers phones or an FAQ section on their site (they should) I'd check.
As an example AVIVA allows you 14 days
"We don't offer the facility to suspend or freeze a policy – so you have two options. If you're looking to purchase a new car within 14 days of selling your vehicle, you can keep your policy active and change your car over once you've purchased your new one."

I'll probably ring em anyway to get a ball park quote for next car.
