Trade Plates - What Courier Delivers them?

Got an odd situation.

I've applied for a set of trade plates for my new business and naively I thought the DVLA approved them and i got them printed.

It turns out they print them and send them to you which is fine, but I'm rarely at my unit and I applied using the business address.

Getting through to the DVLA to try and sort this is a complete joke.

I wondered if anyone knows how trade plates are generally delivered? Are they signed for or would the courier be OK to leave with a neighbour?

That's cool, as long as they eventually get taken to a sorting office for me to pick up rather than end up going back to the DVLA for another month!

I assume this would be the case after the second failed delivery?

Is there not the option for an email notification for when they’ll be delivered, including a rough timeslot?

Or the option for them to be held back at the sorting office for you to collect?

The DVLA haven't sent any postage details yet. I've tried to ring to speak to them but after an hour on hold had to hang up.

Are you not chatty with your postie? Most commercial get the same post man for ages, I know we had the same one for years.
If we had anything coming while we were closed i.e Christmas we always just told him and he sorted it out for when we were back.

It's a strange setup, I'm currently a warehouse within a warehouse with one entrance and I'm quite far away from the door so I've never actually met him!

Hoping if it's royal mail it'll just go to the sorting office and I can pick them up there rather than them getting sent back.

Anyone know how long the letter and plates tend to arrive apart?
