To be fair chap when you've only got hundreds of feet to play with I'd put up with minor whiplash

There's a great book called 'Groundrush' by a guy called Simon Jakeman who was one of the pioneer BASE jumpers in the UK. He and some parachuting mates decided they were bored with jumping out of aircraft and decided when pi$$ed one night to go and leap off Cheddar Gorge the next morning. First guy to go hit the rock face on the way down and Jakeman had to jump after him to help the guy out on the road several hundred feet below... Later he leapt off the roof of the Barbican centre at night!

I've got some great video of nutters BASE jumping off a tv transmitter tower, having to get off quickly because their fillings were starting to heat up! Avoiding the guy wires on the way down looked fun.

I think the record for the lowest-altitude indoor BASE jump went to some bloke who parachuted off the balcony INSIDE St Paul's cathedral. Run awayyyyyy.....

What a fantastic clip. BASE jumping must be an amazing feeling, but I don't think I'd ever be brave/stupid enough to do it. I've done some big bungy jumps (600-700ft) and a frankly idiotic gorge swing, and they're intense enough, but that's in a different, altogether more insanely dangerous league! The whole illegality aspect must add to the thrill as well.

Why are you guys writing BASE in capital letters? Is it an acronym about trousers - "Bugger, Ah've shat 'em"?

Bonkers Aerial Suicide Experts

Bowels Always Suddenly Evacuate

Or...(I think)

Buildings
Antenna(e)
Span
Earth

Just think, if they'd used "Bridge" instead of "Span", they'd be BABE jumpers

Tis true. You "officially" have to jump off one of each type of item before you can call yourself a BASE jumper.

Great vid.
I have one of a jump gone wrong where the guy slams into the side of a dam he's jumped off, it's not pleasant to watch. I'll post it if you want, the guy moans a lot.

BASE chutes are packed in such a way to open much faster than normal chutes, they don't use sliders.

Also most BASE speed openings are lower than a regular freefall so the openings aren't as hard.

Lowest I've ever jumped from was 5000feet with a pull within 5 seconds or so and the opening was much gentler than usual.

I think you're referring to his drogue chute, his container(the backpack) is black and orange, hs main chute is black so it's probably his orange drogue, which might look a bit red in the clip.
