Can anyone recommend a currency exchange firm? I’m selling a property, due completing in the next 2 weeks & want to bring the founds back into the uk.

I obviously want to achieve best value possible.

Happy to help, and/or to be used as a sounding board!

Revolut will beat them but any significant sums will get caught up in their anti money laundering process and they're a nightmare to deal with. I switched to wise about a year ago and haven't regretted it even if it does cost me a bit more.

Never come across any currency firm that can do better rates than either of them.

How many houses do you sell each year?

This is a big single transaction, the current rate is pretty good today, shop around and negotiate.

I agreed my deal the day that Liz Truss crashed Sterling, I completed several days later after things had changed. That one event was worth £20k+ to us.

I've used it twice for house purchases.

Actually, the rate today is poor, probably the worst in 2 years.

Out of interest, if you sell a foreign property and bring funds back do you have to claim it, is it a capital gain that is taxable etc? Or do you hope the inland revenue don't find out?

I DiYed mine recently.

Cash was sat in Santander Totta and I moved it to Nationwide 10k euro a day. Cost about half a cent with a different rate on each transaction.

Obviously could get stronger (and will now I’ve said this) but GBP is strong at the minute - can you hold here in euro or abroad for a bit?

Depends how much the sale is worth but 2/3% could be a lot of money.
