Hey people,

Have been trying to source a new battery for me chim. Nobody has anything in stock. Halfrauds, KwikFit and a few indies dont have them and say they wont touch them anyway.

Anyone know where in the SW area that will supply a 600/700 amp Heavy Duty battery for a 400 chim?

The guys at National are trying their dammdest to get me a battery, today will be the 3rd attempt.

If I get one today, I will let you know then you can go to a National Tyres place near you if you wanted to...

I get mine from a place called Kapci Auto Parts but they are in Harlow in Essex!!! They might deliver? i will get the number for you and post it here!

Thats what I thought too but they dont have the right size AND the terminals are on the wrong side. There isnt much room in the battery box for varying sizes...

I can't understand why this is so complicated either.

Halfords do stock the correct battery, if my memory serves me correctly is was for Range Rover V8 battery no HB071. But I'm doing from memory, so might be wrong! Don't ask for a battery for a TVR, they won't have a clue.

Heavy duty, terminals correct and correct size.

Bought one a few weeks ago.

Just ensure it's an 072.

If you still need one it is an "072" battery, nothing special - try any decent Motor Factors and quote the number. HTH

The local Halfords were out of stock the other week, but a small car spares on the high street has a 800 amp marine battery (supposed to be for twin outboards) - works a treat and fits exactly. The added bonus is there is a cover over the erminals so the ecu and other gubbins is well insulated from the battery.

Was £89 to buy though.

Oh yeah, to get the box out.. how many bolts? IIRC there seems to be 2 under the car but cant seems to feel any around the box in the footwell......

Two bolts holding the box in place. Both accessed from under the car.

Yep, same here. Just walked in, picked one up, paid for it and left. Easy. I searched PH for the battery details first of course!
