Father's days started for me at 01:30 picking up the youngest and her boyfriend from Gatwick, back into bed at 03:30.

Working till 16:00 then off to the eldest's for a BBQ with the family including daughter above, my eldest's partners dad died recently so it's going to be a tough day for him.

Just had a thought, both my daughters boyfriends dad's are no longer alive, neither is my dad!

Happy Fathers day everyone.

Cards and texts from my two.

Sadly, like last year, the dog forgot. Ungrateful bh.

It's quite sad, 3 of you already seem to be of the view that your kids won't bother.

Whilst I'm not into a big fanfare and generally it's just another day, I do love that my daughters go to the effort to do something and to recognise that I'm their dad, me eldest wanted to also take me out for lunch at somepoint, I just said to her not to, the BBQ with the family is more than enough.

One year, my youngest didn't do anything, she was mid teens, no card nothing, all a bit blasé about it, I think she was just going through "that phase" of her teens, it did really hurt me, my dad and my eldest absolutely roasted her for it.

For the first time in my life, at the ripe old age of 50 something, I'm actually spending father's day in the company of my dad.

It's a bit odd....

14 years since my Dad died, and 5 years since my Father in Law died.

My wife and I still miss them both.

Our daughter is still in bed asleep after completing her GCSE’s but it is the one day of the year she tends to revert from archetypal teenager to something approaching doting daughter.

The pack of lager didn’t make it to today, ‘Dead mans shoes’ was on last night so it was utilised.

My birthday is a week before so I tend to get 2 cards and a sort of combined present when they come to visit for my birthday.

I might get a text tho.
